basketball, shanghai garden, faculty club (2003/03/13)

Another busy day. Ian and I got pizza at, wait for it, Hot Mama's, but instead of eating there, we went over to the Miller Community Center and ate in the teen activity room, where we could also read signs educating us on proper behavior in the teen activity room.

Then we shot baskets. No one was there. We took the opportunity to play some full-court one-on-one, which I can't recommend.

Later I met Ju at Shanghai Garden for dinner, and "A" walked over from the office to join us.

We went to a talk called "Beyond the Grove of Academe: Asian Languages, Public Affairs, and the Public Interest." It was held at the Faculty Club at the University of Washington. I had never been inside. Zev talked about how Chinese is more complicated than people realize.
